Obituary of James Harold Peters

PETERS: James Harold August 10, 1933 - March 30, 2021 Jim was born in St. John's, Newfoundland to Fred and Katharine Peters. He had a sister Marion and two brothers John and David who have all predeceased him. Jim received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1957 at Dalhousie University in Halifax, N.S. He practiced with his brother Dave in St. John's before moving to Goderich in 1961. He married Penny Lynds in 1959 in Truro, N.S. and they have four children, Gary born in Newfoundland, Bill, John and Jennifer all born in Goderich. He was a long standing member of North Street United Church and later joined the congregation of Knox Presbyterian Church in Goderich. Jim was active in his professional society and became involved in town council, where he served on various committees. He was President of the Kinsmen Club in 1967, President of the Rotary Club in 1972, President of Probus Club in 2009. He was one of the founding members of the Goderich Laketown Band and played with the Kincardine Band and the Bayfield Winds. He retired after 39 years and had many hobbies, his workshop, music, gardening, golf and bridge, but most of all, he enjoyed his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Penny, children, Gary (Sue), Bill (Tracey), John (Angela) and Jennifer (Gord Creasor). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Cameron, Eric, Thomas, Kaity, Troy, Corinne, Alannah, Aubrey and Caleb. At Jim's request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date when it is safe to gather and fellowship together.
