Our summer project for 2008 was a trip to Monmouth Illinois for 4 days in mid-July. Some stayed with billets, others stayed at Monmouth College dorms but we all had a great time.
Itinerary
Friday July 18
7:00 AM Eastern time - departure from GDCI
8:00 PM Central time - arrive at Monmouth College
Saturday July 19
10:00 AM - Easy practice at Faith United Presbyterian Church with guest musicians from Monmouth Municipal Band
11:45 AM - Depart to the village of Bishop Hill, a Swedish settlement about 35 miles north east of Monmouth
12:30 - Lunch in Bishop Hill with discount restaurant coupons
2:00 – 3:15 - Outdoor concert in the Village Green, located in the center of the village
3:45 - Depart for Monmouth after the concert and store instruments and equipment in Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth. Supper with hosts at the church.
7:30 – 9:00 PM - Concert at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth
Sunday July 20
9:30 AM - Church Service at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth.
10:30 AM - depart for Galesburg. Lunch at Landmark Restaurant and some sight seeing there.
3:00 to 4:15 - Outdoor Concert in the Park Plaza on Main Street in Galesburg
4:45 - Supper at a local Mexican restaurant
[went to see Mama Mia at a movie theatre after supper]
Monday July 21
7:00 AM Central time - departure from Monmouth College
8:00 PM Eastern time - arrive safely back in Goderich
